Lateritic Soil Improvement Using Lime and MOFIC

This study investigates the effects of mucilage from Opuntia ficus-indica cladode (MOFIC), a bio-modifier, on Lime-stabilized Lateritic soil's durability and index features. Specifically, this research assessed alterations to Atterberg limits, compaction characteristics, California bearing ratio (CBR), values unconfined compressive strength (UCS) properties soil samples stabilised through laboratory experiments. Lime + MOFIC was added at 0%, 2%, 4%, 8%, 12% 16% wt (%) soil. The result confirms alteration in characteristics upon addition Lime-treated geotechnical improved subgrade subbase material 2% LIME MOFIC; with presence 2–4%, capacity according Nigerian General Specification. highest CBR value Lime-stabilised 56%, while MOFIC-stabilised 70%. represents 20% increment CBR. polysaccharides enhanced binding attributes hence accelerated promotion green construction reduction environmental impacts using motivates use study.
